Don Richard Riso and Russ Hudson are talking about how they discovered the Enneagram and how they have developed useful tools and approaches
When Don was around 27 years old he discovered the Enneagram as it was introduced by Claudio Naranjo in the 1970’ies. Reading about his own type Don was amazed and wanted to study the Enneagram further. He spends 2 years studying the Enneagram to understand the structure and investigate if there were any evidence that this new psychological approach actually worked. And then he decided it was time for his first book, spending the next 12 years completing it.
Russ was introduced to the Enneagram through the Gurdjieff-work in the mid 1970’ies. When reading the book ‘Transpersonal Psychology’ by Charles Tart he was introduced to the Enneagram of Oscar Ichazo. Reading Don’s first book ‘Personality Types’ increased his interest in the Enneagram and later Don and Russ started working together.
