George Ivanovich Gurdjieff
Gurdjieff can be considered the one bringing the Enneagram to the western worlds attention. Not using the Enneagram for typing, and not even using types from the Enneagram, Gurdjieff understood the inner dynamics of the Enneagram and promoted many of the ideas we are benefitting of today in the Enneagram community. He were teaching the profound wisdom of the three centers (sensing, feeling and thinking) and created what he called the Fourth Way combining the three centers in a new practice working on all three centers at the same time. This would be expressed in what is called the Gurdjieff Movements.
The Biography of Gurdjieff is dense, important and worth understanding, so we refer to Wikipedia for further details.
