He started collaborating with Don Richard Riso founding the Enneagram Institute and coauthored some of the best selling books about the Enneagram. For many the book ‘The Wisdom of the Enneagram’ has been a ‘first meeting’ with the Enneagram and later the teaching of Don and Russ. One of their major contributions to the Enneagram-community is the descriptions of the ‘Levels’ which today is an embedded and integrated understanding of the Enneagram, and without the levels much of the inner dynamics of the types would not have the same meaning or use for us today.
International recognized expert
Russ has appeared on Good Morning America, and The CBS Morning Show, as well as on several dozen radio and television shows as an expert on personality type. He has become a popular speaker at conferences and retreat centers around the world including the Esalen Institute, the Wisdom 2.0 Conference, and the Science and Non-Duality Conference. Every September since 2001 Russ Hudson has been visiting Denmark, where Flemming Christensen from THINK ABOUT IT have hosted a master class conducted by Russ.

Russ is the founder and president of Russ Hudson Consulting, and is the co-founder of the Enneagram Institute as well as a Founding Director and former Vice-President of the International Enneagram Association—a global organization advancing knowledge of the subject. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa in East Asian Studies from Columbia University in New York.
